Does transcription install anything or use cloud AI?
No installation or extension is needed. English transcription runs in this tab using your device's processor. A small local topic model helps find chapter breaks, and draft titles use phrases from the transcript. Model files download when needed, about 120 MB including processing files. Saving models for later is optional. Audio and transcript content are not sent to a cloud AI service. Review generated words, titles and timing.
Does this edit or improve the sound?
Episode Prep updates MP3 details, artwork and chapters. It does not clean up noise, change loudness, compress or convert audio. Finish those changes in your audio editor first.
Will these chapters appear everywhere?
The MP3 includes ID3 chapters. Hosts and players support different chapter formats, and some hosts may remove embedded tags when they process uploads. We also export a timestamp list and Podcasting 2.0 JSON. Check the result in your host and listening apps.
What happens to my existing metadata?
We read the existing fields and chapters so you can review them. The chosen image becomes the file's cover. Exports use a single chronological chapter menu, so nested menus are flattened. Keep the original if it contains specialist metadata or additional embedded images.
Can I use this on my phone?
The interface adapts to a phone, but available memory limits large-file processing. The MP3 file limit is 150 MB, and local English transcription supports up to one hour. A computer is recommended for transcription. Processing can pause when a phone locks or backgrounds the browser, so keep the tab open. Use a shorter recording if memory is limited.
Is embedded artwork the same as my show cover?
This image is embedded in the MP3. Upload your show's cover separately through your host. Apple accepts square RSS show covers from 1400 to 3000 pixels per side, in JPEG or PNG, with no transparency. See Apple's show-cover specifications.
