SoundCloud
An audio platform that can carry a podcast, but was never really built to.
PodStack editorial · Product research. How we review tools
SoundCloud is a hosting and listening platform for audio in general. It will publish a podcast feed on the paid tier, and it has a real audience on the platform itself, which almost no dedicated host can claim.
That in-platform audience is the reason to be here. If the show is a mix series, a music interview, or anything where SoundCloud listeners are your listeners, hosting there puts the work in front of them directly.
For a talk show, it is a compromise. Podcast analytics are thinner, chapters and transcripts are not the priority, and the feed is a feature bolted onto a music service rather than the core product.
Use it as a second home or as the primary when the audience is already there. Otherwise use a podcast host and post highlights to SoundCloud.
