Squarespace

Squarespace is a website you pick from a template and then drag into shape. Hosting is in the bill. It is not the place to park the episode files for the long haul. The weekly loop is: publish at the real host, then add a blog post here with an audio block or an embed from that host. Official help is blunt. If the files live somewhere else, this site will not update itself. You add the page.

It is for a brand, a shop, a course, or a company show that already wanted a designed site, and will spend twenty minutes on the episode page. It is not for someone who wanted episode pages to appear on their own after they hit publish at the host. People who wanted that already use a podcast site builder. It is also not a video podcast desk. Squarespace says it only supports audio.

The appeal is a designed website that can include a podcast alongside other pages. Check the feed, media-hosting and commerce requirements before choosing a plan. Visual fit is an editorial judgment, not a customer-satisfaction measurement.

The later pain is the hand work. Official help: if you host the show externally, add updates manually. Uploads stop at 160 MB unless you point at an outside file. Their own feed only shows the last 300 episodes. A trial site, a password, or a paywall means Apple will not take the show. That is the recurring reason people leave for a podcast-shaped site.

Start the trial. Pick a template. Make About, Contact, and a blog for episodes. If you already pay a host, paste their player. Do not upload the file here unless you really mean for Squarespace to be the mailbox. Fill the episode fields if you are using their feed. Point your own domain after you pay.

Squarespace is a pretty shop front with an optional audio blog, not a set-and-forget podcast site. The manual episode page is the deal. If you will design the brand and paste the post, it holds. If you wanted the site to draw itself from the host, people already leave.
