Apple Podcasts remains the directory most other podcast apps pull their catalog from, so getting listed here isn't just about Apple's own app, it ripples out to a lot of third party apps too. It's usually the first submission any new show makes.
This is genuinely for everyone, there's no niche or format where skipping Apple makes sense given how many listeners are still on iPhones by default.
The gotcha is patience, submissions go through a review queue and there's no priority lane, so if you're planning a launch date, submit your feed at least a week ahead to give review time some buffer.
Keep your show artwork and metadata clean before submitting, since fixing rejected submissions costs you another round trip through the queue.
