Goodpods is a podcast app built around following people rather than algorithms. Users make lists, leave reviews, and recommend episodes to each other, and shows can be claimed and managed by their hosts.
For an independent show, the charts there are reachable in a way Apple's are not. A niche category leaderboard is a real thing you can win and screenshot.
Keep the expectations honest. The user base is a fraction of the big apps, so this is a community play, not a distribution one.
Claim the show, add it to a few lists, and answer the people who review it. That is the whole strategy and it takes an hour.
