Google Meet is primarily a business video conferencing tool, but its cloud recording feature, available on qualifying Workspace plans, gets used by some podcasters simply because it's already sitting in their existing toolkit.
It works fine for a low stakes conversational format, especially teams or organizations already paying for Workspace who don't want to add another subscription just to record an occasional interview.
The output is a single combined recording, not separated audio per speaker, and personal Gmail accounts don't get recording at all, only paid organizational plans do, which trips people up.
Not a purpose built podcast tool, and it shows, but as a zero additional cost option for people already inside the ecosystem, it's a reasonable stopgap for informal recordings.
