Otter.ai built its name on live meeting transcription and note taking, generating speaker labeled transcripts in real time, and it's since added light editing and highlighting tools around those transcripts.
Podcasters use it as an affordable first pass, transcribing an interview quickly to skim for good quotes, mark timestamps for standout moments, or generate show notes text, without paying for a heavier tool.
It's not built to replace a real audio editor. You can mark up a transcript, but actually cutting and exporting a clean episode still needs a DAW or a purpose built transcript editor like Descript.
A sensible cheap add on for review and note taking, not a substitute for the software that will actually produce your final audio file.
