PodChapters is a browser-based tool focused on one job: turning a finished episode into well-timed chapters and transcript files. It supports ID3 chapters, Podcasting 2.0 cloud chapters, Podlove Simple Chapters, YouTube timestamps and plain-text exports without re-encoding the audio.
The Outline to Chapters feature converts a written outline into timed markers, which helps interview shows that already plan segments in prose. AI suggestions and transcription sit on Smart plans; Basic is for manual placement with waveform editing.
It is for producers who chapter every episode and find host-native chapter UIs too limited. Agencies editing several shows may prefer a dedicated chapter desk over reopening a full DAW for marker work alone.
It is not a host, noise reducer or clip generator. Audio uploads are processed in the cloud, which is a different privacy tradeoff from local tools such as PodStack Episode Prep. Read the license and retention policy before uploading sensitive recordings.
At roughly $7 per month on annual Smart billing, it undercuts all-in-one repurposing suites that mention chapters as a side feature. The gotcha is ongoing credits: a long weekly show can burn through monthly AI minutes faster than a short newsletter-style podcast.
