Podcastle (now Async)
Browser remote capture with AI cleanup, now living under the Async name.
PodStack editorial · Product research. How we review tools
Podcastle is now Async. Same company, new name, January 2026. The slug stays podcastle so you can find it. The join link, the browser recorder, and Magic Dust are still the reason hosts showed up. You send a guest a tab. You get tracks. You clean audio in the same house. Castos still files it with the local-recording studio tools, aimed at people who want recording and editing in one place.
It fits a host who wanted Riverside-class capture without Riverside money, and who can live with the AI pivot. It fits a solo creator who will record, clean, and clip in one login. It does not fit a guest who will only open Zoom. It does not fit a cutter who refuses credit meters. The homepage now sells chat-based video more loudly than interviews. The recorder is still there.
What people keep it for is the one tab. Remote recording, Magic Dust, transcription, a hosting hub if you want it. Official help still prices Essentials at $11.99 a month on yearly. The marketing page hid those dollars behind JavaScript this check. This listing used the help article, not a guess. Free is a taste: one lifetime recording hour and a watermark on free video.
The later pain is the meter. Help is blunt: monthly AI credits reset. They do not roll. Recording hours are small on Essentials. Two hours is not a weekly video show. Pro jumps the hours and the credits. Teams is for a room of people. Unused chat-edit credits vanish. A yearly plan still drips credits monthly, not as a lump. Old Podcastle files should still be there. The announcement said accounts and billing stayed. Confirm yours before you trust a rename.
Open help.async.com for the dollar table, not only the marketing toggle. Run a real guest on free before you pay. Watch the recording-hour counter, not only the credit badge. Turn Magic Dust on a copy, not the only take. If the guest will not use a new tab, send Zoom and stop pretending this is the default. Keep the slug in your password manager: async.com, same login.
Async is Podcastle with a louder AI coat. The deal is a join link plus cleanup in one tab. If you will watch hours and credits, it holds. If you wanted a simple recorder with no meter, people already pick Zoom or a quieter studio tool.
