RAIN News
The daily radio, streaming, and podcast trade that people in audio still open.
PodStack editorial · Product research. How we review tools
RAIN News is a daily trade paper for radio, streaming, and podcasts. Kurt Hanson started it in 1999. He also founded AccuRadio. Brad Hill edits it now. The site runs original notes and guest columns. The thing people actually open is the RAIN Daily Digest. The signup page says it is free.
It fits a sales lead, a network person, or a radio-and-podcast operator who needs to know what Spotify, YouTube, iHeart, and the ad shops did this week. Steve Goldstein still writes there. Measurement fights show up the same week they hit the agencies. It does not fit a hobby host who wanted Apple chart tips. It is not a how-to on mics.
What people keep using is the daily drumbeat. The about page still calls it a touchstone for thousands of readers. In August 2026 the homepage was still moving. YouTube's new view count. iHeart putting Martha Stewart on Netflix. Apple Music labeling AI tracks. Oxford Road's AMP Accords. This is the radio-and-internet paper that never left.
The later pain is the lens. RAIN is radio and streaming first. Podcasts sit in that mix, not on a podcast-only desk. The about page still talks like 2013. AccuRadio banners sit on every page. The privacy page is blunt. They may share your signup with sponsors of premium content, webinars, and conferences.
Read the site. If you want the letter, use the Daily Digest signup. It asks for work details: company, title, industry. Ads and summits go through Brad Hill and Lee Cornell. There is no public rate card on the pages we opened. If you wanted a podcast-only briefing, that is a different paper.
RAIN is the old audio trade that still publishes. The deal is a free daily written for people who sell and run audio, with a radio accent. If you live at the join of radio, streaming, and podcasts, it holds. If you wanted a creator classroom, people already leave.
