RODE Connect
Free mixer software that turns a couple of RODE mics into a workable podcast desk.
PodStack editorial · Product research. How we review tools
RODE Connect is free desktop software that acts as a small mixer. Up to four RODE USB microphones, plus a virtual channel for call audio and one for sound effects, each recorded to its own track.
For an in-room two host show on RODE mics, that is the whole hardware problem solved for nothing. Separate tracks mean you can fix one person's level later without touching the other.
The catch is the hardware lock. It only accepts supported RODE devices, so the moment you move to a different microphone or an XLR interface the software becomes irrelevant.
Excellent value if you are already in the RODE ecosystem. Not a reason to buy into it if you are not.
