VDO.Ninja is a free, open-source tool that lets you create peer-to-peer audio and video links directly in a browser, popular with livestreamers and technical podcasters who want to pull in remote guests without a subscription.
It's extremely flexible, supporting multiple simultaneous feeds, scene composition, and integration with OBS Studio, which makes it a favorite among people building custom live production setups.
The tradeoff for that flexibility is a fairly raw, technical interface, there's no friendly onboarding flow, and a guest joining for the first time may need some hand-holding to get their camera and mic working right.
It's not built around local high-resolution track recording the way Riverside or Squadcast are, so post-production audio quality depends more on the connection quality than a dedicated recording tool would.
