Zoom

Zoom is a meeting app that also records. You send a guest a link. They join from a computer, a phone, or a browser. They do not need their own paid account. You hit record on this computer, talk, then end the meeting and wait while it saves. You get mixed audio, a video file, and, if you turned the setting on first, a separate audio file for each person. It is not a host. You still upload the finished episode where the apps already read your show.

It is for the interview show whose guest is a busy professional, not a creator. They already know Zoom. They will click a Zoom link. They may not click a studio they have never heard of. It is not for a show that needs each person to record a full-quality file on their own machine. Riverside, SquadCast, and Zencastr already cover that job. It is not a publisher.

The appeal is a familiar meeting workflow for guests. Run a recording test and compare its output with a dedicated local-track recorder before choosing it for production. This review does not establish a measured audio-quality ranking.

The later pain is the cap and the sound. Free Basic ends the meeting at 40 minutes. The recording is compressed meeting audio. Separate files come from the host machine, not from a local take on the guest laptop. Original sound for musicians sits on paid plans in the public comparison. A weak guest connection still marks the file.

Make a free account. Turn on Record a separate audio file for each participant in Settings, then Record on this Computer. Headphones on both ends. Confirm the mic. Run a short real interview, not a silent room. Stay until Zoom finishes saving. Import the files into the editor you already use. If 40 minutes is too short, look at paid Pro on the live cart. Paid dollars were not on the public page.

Zoom is the meeting booth guests already have. The deal is a link they will click, not a studio file. If the guest will join a dedicated recorder, people already leave. If they will only join Zoom, this is still the usual vote.
