Ecamm Live

Ecamm Live is a studio app for Mac. You build scenes, switch cameras, drop titles, pull comments, and go live to YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and more, while the Mac saves a local recording. Guests can join from a browser link. They do not need Ecamm and they do not need a Mac. Pro adds Interview Mode, a virtual camera into other apps, and isolated audio and video so you can edit each person later. Standard is the live desk without those guest and iso tools as keepers.

It is for a Mac host who treats the weekly episode as a live show, or who wants one app for streams, recordings, and a video podcast. Dave Jackson moved Ask the Podcast Coach here after StreamYard's price jump, and still warns there is a learning curve because nothing else is laid out like this. It is not for Windows. It is not for a host who only wanted a guest link and never a switcher. Isolated tracks need Pro and an Apple Silicon Mac. Intel Macs can still interview a few guests. They will not get the iso pack.

The appeal is controlling a live production on a Mac, with scenes, camera inputs and locally recorded output. Check hardware compatibility and test the full guest and recording workflow before a live show. This review does not benchmark recording recovery.

The later pain is the rung and the platform. Standard will stream and record. It will not keep Interview Mode past a short try, and it will not write separate guest files. Iso video is capped at 1080p even when the main program can go higher. Screen share does not get its own iso. You still need a podcast host for the episode the apps read. If your guest is on a phone in a noisy room, the Mac cannot invent a better mic.

Practical start: download the 14-day trial on the Mac you actually use. Build one show scene and one guest scene. Run Interview Mode with a friend. Turn Record on, then isolated audio if the Mac is Apple Silicon. Watch disk space. After the session, grab the program file and the separate audio files, edit as you already edit, and upload to your host. If you never need guests or isos, Standard may be enough. If the weekly show is interviews, budget Pro.

Ecamm is a Mac control room that can also be your remote booth. The deal is local production plus a guest link, for a monthly seat. If you need Windows or a tab that just works, people already stay in a browser studio. If you live on a Mac and will learn the scenes, this is the desk vote.
