iHeartRadio combines live radio streaming with a large podcast catalog, backed by iHeartMedia, which is itself one of the biggest podcast publishers and networks in the US. Submitting your feed gets you into that same app ecosystem.
It's worth including in distribution for any US targeted show, since it reaches a radio adjacent audience that may not have migrated fully to Spotify or Apple as their primary listening habit.
Because iHeartMedia runs its own extensive podcast network, editorial placement and recommendations can understandably lean toward shows already in that family, independent shows are one voice among many.
Treat it as one more distribution point worth having rather than a discovery engine you can rely on, similar to most secondary podcast apps.
