Visit Matomo

Matomo is a more full featured web analytics platform, aiming to match a lot of what Google Analytics does, funnels, goals, heatmaps in higher tiers, while keeping data ownership with you rather than Google. It can be self hosted for free or run as a paid cloud service.

This is a good fit for a podcast network or a show with a real marketing operation around its website, where the extra depth of behavioral data is worth the added complexity.

For a podcaster who just wants basic traffic numbers, Matomo is more tool than necessary, and the self hosted option again means maintaining a server yourself.

It only covers your website, as with every tool in this group, your actual episode download numbers still come from your podcast host, not from Matomo.
